MicroCore Sales Kit

Phoenix’s MicroCore product branding extends across all BIOS product lines and is targeted at the low cost netbook, nettop and embedded systems that are based on the Intel Atom, VIA C7 and Nano and AMD Phoenix processors.

Much like Intel’s approach to developing the Atom processor specifically for an emerging category of Mobile Internet Devices and simple, affordable, netbooks and nettops, Phoenix’s MicroCore family leverages Phoenix’s firmware technologies from all BIOS product lines to deliver optimized solutions for best price performance on the Intel Atom processor based platform and equivalents from AMD and VIA.

In order to enable a new wave of developers that are new x86 based designs, Phoenix has developed a “MicroCore Starter Kit” which bundles the BIOS source and object licenses along with the tools and training, at a price point that is affordable for a small developer.

Firmware in other processor architectures (i.e., PowerPC, ARM, MIPS) often takes the form of a BSP (Board Support Package) within a kernel’s framework. The “MicroCore started kit” is designed to ease the transition to x86 architecture by providing developers a model that is very similar to the BSP.
